Lucy & Ethan

Lucy and Ethan held their fun, alternative wedding at Gate Street Barn on a sunny April’s day. I always knew their day would be different from the minute I met them at The Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza and I was not disappointed.

Whilst Ethan was married in his army uniform Lucy chose to have a gorgeous burnt orange dress made by Zoe at Scarlet-Tayla and it suited her absolutely perfectly.  I love how she paired it with a navy petticoat to match the orange and navy theme. Most people having a Spring wedding opt for lighter colours but Lucy and Ethan are not most people and this just goes to show the burnt orange, which is normally associated with Autumn, looks gorgeous no matter the season.

They asked the ultra talented Alex over at Petalhead to make the dried flower crowns, button holes and decor to match their colour scheme with each bridesmaid wearing a slightly different flower crown.  I always love Alex’s work because not only does it look gorgeous and holds up to the riggers of a wedding day but it smells lovely too.

The venue is absolutely beautiful and set off the beaten track surrounded by fields.  The team there could not have been friendlier and more helpful.  Huge kudos to the team for keeping everything running smoothly without any fuss.

Lucy and Ethan chose to throw out a lot of traditional elements.  Firstly no traditional wedding breakfast but instead a delicious BBQ banquet which I was lucky enough to sample.  The caterers Keeley’s Kitchen were absolutely next level.

They also didn’t do a cake cut but the best non-traditional element for me was…………

FIRST DANCE CONGO!!!!! Yes….I am not lying! First dance congo…..I’m telling you it’s absolutely the way to go and Lucy led everybody round the floor and even outside…..amazing!

Massive thanks to DJ Hayley for being a top human being and keeping the dancefloor going all night…..I LOVE dancing pictures so an empty dancefloor is my saddest thing!
